Smash Burger Taco Tips


Smash Burger Tacos cook fast, so this is definitely a meal where I recommend prepping all toppings and side dishes ahead of time. In keeping with the healthy, Big Mac at home vision, the toppings I used are shredded lettuce, finely diced onion, pickles and my Mac Sauce dupe dressing.

Copycat Mac Sauce Recipe


I have vivid memory as a kid when I learned that the famous Big Mac sauce was essentially just Thousand Island Dressing. I had a similar mind blowing, epiphany as an adult when I learned I could sub Whole Fat Greek Yogurt for mayo or sour cream in so many home made dips and dressings. Trust me, I KNOW mixing ketchup with yogurt sounds SO WRONG but its just something you can't knock before trying !



Cooking Methods for Smash Burger Tacos


Many viral social media videos feature versions of this recipe using a Black Stone Grill. Do not be discouraged from trying this out if you do not own one! I personally used a stainless steel pan and simply drained the fat out after each burger. Next time, I will use my much less expensive electric griddle so I can make more at the same time.

Trust the Process


Everything about smashing raw meat onto a tortilla FEELS WRONG. I know, I know. But hear me out, the meat layer is so thin that it will cook off even though were only searing on one side. Still not convinced? After flipping the first sear and the tortilla side is touching the pan, place a lid over the pan. Not only will this melt the cheese but it will create a steam environment! I do not do this, or course, but I understand the concern.
